Meet the Founders and the Board
Nicole Lamb
Nicole moved to Olympia in the summer of 2006 from Texas to attend The Evergreen State College. During this summer she also began her transition and has now come to identify as a lesbian trans woman. She has a history of activism on the part of GLBT issues as well as gender issues through out her high school and college career. She intends to continue this after college as her goal is to become a human rights lawyer for the GLBT community. Her hobbies are playing video games, reading, and not eating coconuts.Nicole is the Project: Transitions board president.
Nate Wall
Nate grew up in Spokane, WA. He moved to Olympia in the Fall of 2007 to attend The Evergreen State College. In Spokane, Nate was an intern for Odyssey Youth’s Queer History Project. After coming out as a transsexual man in 2006, he realized the lack of transgender resources in the Spokane area and wants to change that. His hobbies are body building, eating coconuts, and playing guitar.After founding, Nate left Project: Transitions, but still supports our efforts!

Chelsea Whitaker
Chelsea moved to Olympia in 2005 from Northern California to attend The Evergreen State College. She graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts. Chelsea coordinated the Evergreen Queer Alliance for two years while studying at Evergreen and has been involved with Project: Transitions since its inception. She loves activism, patio gardening, coconuts, and martial arts. She is excited about working with Project: Transitions to create a fantastic resource and support in the transgender community.Chelsea Whitaker is the Project: Transitions executive director.
Kit Crosland
Kit moved to Olympia in 2005 and has been involved with the queer community ever since. He coordinated the Queer Alliance at The Evergreen State College for two years before stepping down to concentrate on making Project: Transitions a success. He manages the website, wears glasses, and likes cocount. Kit is the Project: Transitions board treasurer.Jamie Johnson
Jamie moved to Olympia in the Spring of 2008. She graduated from WSU with a Bachelors in Sociology (social justice). She has been an advocate for the GLBT community for over 15 years. She has been doing HIV/AIDS social work in Seattle and SF for over 12 years and recently accepted the position as HIV Medical Case Manager with UCAN in Olympia. She has worked very closely with the trans community in Seattle and SF and is excited to be on the Board of Project: Transitions. She loves dogs, yoga, gardening, hiking, music and reading.Jamie is the Project: Transitions board secretary.
Mary Katherine Plas
Mary Katherine Plas is an Olympia attorney. Her firm, Rainbow Family Law PLLC, focuses on the needs of the LGBTQ community and other non-traditional couples and families who need assistance with family law issues including adoption, guardianship, probate, estate planning, domestic partnership and documentation of legal name changes. Mary Katherine is also an active member of PFLAG Olympia and enjoys music, theater, and exploring her new home of Washington State.Mary Katherine is a Project: Transitions board member and prefers pinapple over coconut.
